Five on Friday

I lied. It's only four on Friday today. Things have been so crazy lately. Work has been super busy and I am trying to finish up everything before I take a week and a half off for the holidays.

A couple Sundays ago we went to the Dolphins vs. Ravens game. Besides the fact that I wasn't feeling too great and they lost miserably, we had fun just being there. It's so interesting going to a game in your hometown but rooting for the opposing team.

We got two different experiences: People that wanted to take a picture of us (not exaggerating, at least 30 people asked to take a picture of us because of my fin hat and Justin's mask). And people that were rude and down right mean. Meanwhile we are in our hometown and these are the people we are supposed to be coming together with in our community.

Not cool. That's a reason why I sometimes don't like sports. Rivalry is fun, but being rude to people and making crude remarks towards someone is not so fun.

Rant over.

We went to a holiday party for Justin's work on Wednesday and there is always a gift exchange. Last year we brought a "margarita in a basket." This year we did something very similar with a Moscow mule gift box. It was definitely a hit!

The party was a lot of fun and we went home with a poker chip set. Thursday morning wasn't so pretty though. We got home around 12:00AM and woof.. not used to staying out that late on a week night!
Justin and I went back and forth about whether or not to go to NYC this weekend. We try to go up every year around this time. Last year we made the decision totally spur of the moment and ended up feeling like we needed to do a better job of planning.

This year I have a whole agenda and everything planned out, but there is a 100% chance of rain both Saturday and Sunday. So we switched weekends and are going to stay home this weekend. We still have Christmas shopping to do and I definitely need to get that done!
Last night I totally skipped the gym and went to Five Guys. When it rains it pours right?! It was so amazingly delicious. I haven't had a Five Guys burger in at least a year and it never disappoints! Totally worth it!

Happy Friday!

2016 & 2015 Christmas Cards

2016 Christmas Card
I am so excited to share our Christmas card! We didn't do a holiday photo shoot this year because we felt like between engagement photos in 2014 and wedding photos in 2015, we would be set until next year. We had my brother take some photos in my parent's backyard for us and he is super talented!

We had a couple other runner ups that just didn't fit right in the card designs that I liked.

Just for fun, here is a look at 2015. Both photos really don't capture the clarity or true photo of the colors. The first one looks washed out while the second one looks dark. I loved the gold foil stamping too.

2015 Christmas Card

I am so excited to see how the cards will change over the years and I love the idea of displaying five cards at a time in our home (once we have some years under our belt!).

Gift Guide: For Him

F O R   H I M
Gift Guide: Men
Let's start by saying that this gift guide is in no priority order.

1. Kiehl's Soap - Because having your man smell good is always a nice thing.

2. Ray Ban Large Aviators - Justin and I actually share these sunglasses!

3. MVMT Watch - Justin has this watch and loves it. It seems to match almost everything.

4. Daniel Wellington Watch - These watches are so classy and timeless. They also have different choices for the face and interchangeable bands.

5. Dart Board - A good man cave game.

6. Wine - I put Apothic Red Blend on here because we really like it just for a glass here and there and it's only $10.

7. Liquor - Justin loves Rum. It's his drink of choice, so buying a nice bottle would make a great gift.

8. UGG Slippers - For those of you that also keep your house at a brisk 66° in the winter.

9. Bose Wireless Headphones - These come in handy for so many men. Justin likes to lift weights and says that the cord always gets in his way.

10. Passport Cover - I personally love the simplicity of the J.Crew Factory one and it's such a good deal.

11. Tickets - Airline tickets. Concert tickets. Beer or wine tasting tickets. You can't go wrong with buying an experience.

12. The Kaufmann Mercantile Guide - For the men in your life that like a light read or nightstand book.

13. The North Face Pullover - It's like an athleisure sweatshirt, except for men.

Normally I have gifts bought for Justin in like....September. This year, not so much. He is becoming harder to buy for as he accumulates nicer items for his wardrobe. So I have had to think outside the box. I hope this helps you though!

Gift Guide: For Her

F O R   H E R
Womens Gift Guide

1. Nike Juvenate Sneakers - Weekend errands. Errands in general. Athleisure. I wear my sneakers all the time. I have 3 pairs and they are easy to throw on with leggings and a flowy shirt.

2. Kate Spade Umbrella - I love that it's clear and I swear whenever I need an umbrella, all of ours have disappeared. So I need this!

3. Burberry Perfume - My favorite perfume of all time.

4. Starbucks Gift Card - This is a gimme. Give me all the coffee!

5. Wine - I have Cakebread shown above. Other favorites are Stags Leap cab, Duckhorn merlot and if you are looking for something less pricey, Apothic Red always pleases.

6. Bose SoundLink Mini - We use our SoundLink all the time. Pretty much the moment we get home from work we turn music on while we cook and eat. We actually turn jazz music on a lot as a good background music. It always makes me feel like I'm at Panera!

7. Philosophy Body Wash - This body wash is smooth and smells dreamy. The best part is there is a recipe on every bottle!

8. Hunter Rain Boots - I love my Hunter boots. Although I don't get to wear them too often, when I do they are super comfy and warm.

9. Pandora Ring - If you follow me on Instagram, you see I wear my Pandora ring all the time. I don't have the one above (I have the interwined ring) and it's a great everyday ring.

10. Bath and Body Works Candles - Mmmm. I have one burning pretty much everyday.

I have a gift guide for him ready to go. Over the years I have bought Justin so many things that he still uses and loves almost everyday. Christmas seems to be right around the corner, so if you have any last minute items to buy for a man in your life, visit me next week!

Christmas Home Tour

One of my favorite parts of Christmas is always the decor! Black Friday for me doesn't mean shopping and crazy malls, it means completely transforming my home into the Christmas spirit!

Follow along as I share some of my favorite spaces!

-Our Room-
The sleigh filled with cinnamon pine cones keeps our room smelling festive.
Fun Fact -- This Santa is hand carved from the base of our first real Christmas tree in 2014. He is so unique and it's a keepsake we get to have forever!

Justin gets his own little Christmas tree on his dresser, along with a boudoir photo that was given to him on our wedding day.
-Our Family Room & Bar Cart-

New window treatments are in order for that poor space!

Slowly adding presents!

My two favorite ornaments above and below. 2015 is our wedding ornament and 2011 was our very first ornament! We had been dating around 9 months by that time and this was one of our first pictures taken together. It is such a fond memory -- we were on my MIL's boat for the weekend when she snapped this shot!

-Our Side Entrance & Basement-
I called this tree our "trashy" tree because it has all sorts of ornaments that are total jokes and very "loud" with bright colors. We do put my childhood train under this tree because it's the only place we really have space, although someday I would like to relocate the train set!

Wouldn't be a true Marylander without an Old Bay ornament painted on a crab shell!

Also the tree turns our entire basement pink.

Our home isn't anywhere near perfect, but this space is filled with so much holiday cheer. The tree in our living room is definitely my favorite part!

My Wish List

Christmas Wish List
You know you're an adult when you wish and hope for a toaster oven, dyson hand vac and new kitchen towels. I present to you the most boring "adulting" Christmas wishlist I've made yet!

1. Breville Mini Smart Toaster Oven - we use our toaster oven every evening for dinner and our current one is massive, gross, and ugly.

2. Crate & Barrel Marble Tic Tac Toe - so cute for the coffee table

3. Longchamp Bag - I don't know why I want one, but I do.

4. DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom Perfume - I just love this scent and need a refill!

5. Dyson Trigger V6 Hand Vac - We barely have carpet in our home and this would make cleaning cars and small messes up way easier.

7. Williams Sonoma Kitchen Towels - Is it weird that I swear by these towels? Probably. They are absorbent and don't wear out quickly. They also never seem to stain either. I currently have navy blue, which doesn't exactly match my kitchen. So I need black ones.

8. Bath & Body Works 3 Wick Candles - I have one burning almost every night. They always burn so evenly.

9. LL Bean Parka - So I made this list and then bought myself this jacket so we will see if I end up liking the J.Crew one. If not, then this jacket is still on my wishlist!

10. Canon EOs Rebel T5 - I don't need the best of the best. Just something better than an iPhone!

Five on Friday

Exciting stuff in our little town! One of our absolute favorite restaurant/bar spots opened up near us! We went there the night before Thanksgiving fully expecting to over indulge in margaritas. Well, I ended up running 5 miles at the gym and decided to drink a lot of water instead of a lot of tequila.

The quesadillas are out of this world and the atmosphere is totally on point. They have an Elvis in Baltimore type theme and nailed it.

We bought our tree at our favorite florist shop and going there has become a tradition. They had two greenhouses FULL of poinsettias and I love their tree selection.

Next week I will be participating in a holiday link up (so excited) and will be sharing holiday photos of our home. I love decorating our home and being intentional, not over doing it and making sure every item has its place.

I don't want to spoil the little "tour" but I have to share the tree on our main floor! I can't wait for under the tree to be totally full of gifts. I have lots of wrapping to do.
See what I mean about presents? This was our tree in 2014.

Last year we hosted a holiday party with all our friends. I tried to go over and above, make sure I had plenty of food, and try some unique appetizers I found on Pinterest.

This year we decided not to host a holiday party, as one of our close friends hosts an annual party each year. We are going to bring one of the apps I made last year because it was so good and very festive!

This recipe is easy and pretty!

  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • ½ Cup light mayonnaise
  • 5 Strips of bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
  • 1 Tbsp diced green onion
  • 1 Tsp chopped fresh dill weed
  • ⅛ Tsp pepper
  • 1¼ Cup whole almonds, toasted
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs for garnish

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Combine cream cheese and mayonnaise and mix well in a food processor or blender.
3. Stir in the cooked bacon, green onion, dill weed and pepper.
4. Cover and chill overnight.
5. Shape the cheese mixture into two small pine cones on serving plate.
6. Starting at the narrow end, place almonds into the cheese on a slight angle, forming rows.
7. Garnish with rosemary twigs to resemble pine needles.

8. Serve with crackers.

Original recipe found here.
Busy weekend ahead here! Sunday we are going to the Ravens vs. Dolphins game. This time we'll be decked out in Dolphins gear. We try to go to a Dolphins game every year, whether it is in Miami, Baltimore, or DC. So far we have gone in 2013, two in 2014, and now one this year!

Miami 2013
Pittsburgh 2013 (it was freezing, literally)
DC in 2015

This year I will actually get some better pictures. This whole month is filled with awesome plans. I hope all of you have some exciting weekends plans also!
